Abstract
A infecção relacionada à assistência à saúde (IRAS) é aquela adquirida durante o
processos do cuidar.
Embora, a
condições do ambiente.

Health care-related infection (HAI) is one acquired during the period in which the patient is submitted to professional assistance.1 It may occur in home, outpatient, hospital and occupational infection acquired by health professionals (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, among others) 2 From the definition, it is understood that these infections are linked to the provision of health care and that may arise, although not always, as a consequence of the failure of care processes. HAIs can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Although, the Most healthcare-associated infections are caused by bacteria and viruses.² The causality of an infection will depend on the association of imbalance between three factors, which involve the clinical condition of the patient, the virulence and inoculum of microorganisms and factors related to hospitalization, such as invasive procedures and environment conditions.
