Abstract
As complicações
Objective: To describe and analyze the current state of knowledge about the use of PICC for chemotherapy in breast cancer. Methods: Integrative review performed at the MEDLINE, SCOPUS, CINAHL and LILACS databases. The extracted data were grouped in thematic categories. Results: 186 articles were retrieved and 10 of them were analyzed. There were predominant cohort studies and 03 categories were obtained: Criteria for choice; Complications and Quality of Life and related barriers. The criteria for choice were the use of protocols containing anthracyclines without the use of trastuzumab. The complications were infection and thrombosis. The barriers identified were difficulties in accessing health services, negative impressions and lack of information about the device. Conclusions: To minimize complications, it is necessary to act on modifiable factors (patient and professional education and strategies to prevent complications). It is recommended to carry out clinical studies to obtain practices with a higher level of evidence.
