O papel da fisioterapia no cuidado às sobreviventes do câncer de colo de útero

Abstract

INTRODUÇÃO: Estudos indicam o aumento no número de sobreviventes em longo prazo do câncer do colo de útero. No entanto, os efeitos adversos do tratamento podem comprometer a qualidade de vida das sobreviventes. O presente estudo teve por objetivo analisar o papel da fisioterapia no cuidado às sobreviventes do câncer do colo do útero a partir do olhar de pacientes sobreviventes e de fisioterapeutas. MÉTODOS: Pesquisa qualitativa, composta por roteiros de entrevista semi-estruturada, realizadas com fisioterapeutas e pacientes do ambulatório de um hospital de referência no tratamento de câncer ginecológico. RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO: Os relatos compartilhados revelam a experiência de viver com os efeitos tardios do tratamento, o papel do fisioterapeuta no cuidado às sobreviventes, e questões relacionadas às políticas públicas de saúde e a atenção fisioterapêutica em oncologia. CONSIDERAÇÕES FINAIS: Além das questões corporais, frutos das sequelas da doença e do tratamento, estas mulheres falam da sua dificuldade de reinserção social e afetiva e do sofrimento gerado pela sua nova condição. A fisioterapia desempenha um importante trabalho junto às sobreviventes do câncer do colo do útero, resultando em melhora da qualidade de vida e da capacidade funcional dessas mulheres.

INTRODUCTION: Studies indicate an increase in the number of long-term survivors of cervical cancer. However, adverse effects of treatment may impair the quality of life of survivors. This study aimed to analyze the role of physiotherapy in caring for survivors of cervical cancer through the eyes of survivors and physiotherapists. METHODS: Qualitative research, consisting of semi-structured interview scripts, carried out with physical therapists and patients in the ambulatory of a referral hospital in the treatment of gynecological cancer. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The shared reports reveal the experience of living with the late effects of treatment, the physiotherapist's role in caring for survivors, and issues related to public health policies and the physical therapy care in oncology. CONCLUSION: In addition to physical issues, fruits of the sequelae of the disease and treatment, these women talk about their difficulties in social and emotional rehabilitation and suffering generated by their new condition. Physical therapy plays an important work with the survivors of cervical cancer, resulting in improved quality of life and functional capacity of these women.
